Information About This Service
We believe that seeing a dental hygienist is the foundation to keeping your teeth and gums as healthy as can be. Here at Borrowash Dental Care our hygienist works very closely with the whole dental team to ensure that all of our patients receive a bespoke hygiene treatment that benefits the individual in the best possible way.
But what does a dental hygienist actually do?
Dental hygienists are specially trained dental professionals who focus on the prevention and treatment of gum disease. Their main role is to professionally clean the teeth and gums, removing plaque, tartar, and stains that have built up over time. Just as importantly, hygienists provide patients with tailored oral hygiene advice, helping them maintain healthy teeth and gums between dental visits.
Another important role of a dental hygienist is to treat all stages of gum disease. Gum disease occurs when the gums become swollen, sore, or infected. It can range from mild inflammation to more serious conditions that affect the supporting structures of the teeth. A dental hygienist is trained to manage and treat each stage, helping to restore and maintain healthy gums.
